The challenges of the project were to provide light and useable space in a building which was bounded on three sides by party walls. This was achieved by the introduction of new and larger rear windows facing into the adjoining owner’s light well, which we negotiated on the owner’s behalf. The spaces were then re-organised to take advantage of the new fenestration. This allowed the building to be transformed internally, to provide good sized rooms with natural lighting, without the necessity of giving up floor space to form a light well.
