The project involved the complete reconstruction of the interior of this mews house, where only the front walls at first floor level were retained.

The project involved the construction of a new second floor mansard roof and conversion of the ground floor garaged into the living accommodation.

The challenges of the project were to provide light and useable space in a building which was bounded on three sides by party walls.  This was achieved by the introduction of new and larger rear windows facing into the adjoining owner’s light well, which we negotiated on the owner’s behalf.  The spaces were then re-organised to take advantage of the new fenestration.  This allowed the building to be transformed internally, to provide good sized rooms with natural lighting, without the necessity of giving up floor space to form a light well.

P+R Associates were responsible for taking the project right through from the initial design to completion, obtaining planning permission, carrying out the detailed design and obtaining tenders, and then administering the construction contract.
