Alteration and extension works to a detached house on a generous plot in a leafy area of North London.

This was a small detached house in near derelict condition, with a strange lopsided appearance, but on a fine plot in a nice area. The house was converted to a substantial five bedroomed detached house with integral garage, through extensions. The whole house was re-modelled inside and out, including the roof.

Internally, the building was completely stripped out and re-plastered, and additional internal areas were created, to provide five bedrooms, three bathrooms and three reception rooms. In total, the floor area was more than doubled in size.

A new drive was created, plus rear patios, and a conservatory. This made the most of the site, which benefited from substantial gardens, albeit on a narrow road frontage.

When we originally obtained Planning Permission for the extensions in 1989, the client was unable to complete all of the work, but the new purchaser completed our original concept and realised the design for the house in 1998.

Having carried out the initial design, obtained Planning Permission, carried out the working drawings, and managed the works on site to completion for the original owner, we were then able to complete the first concept for the second owner.
