We have been carrying out the complete refurbishment of Mews Houses at the rate of two or more each year for the last 10 years, to the point where we are now specialists in this field.

In Westminster and RBK&C in particular, the Mews House aesthetic is very carefully defined and all the Mewses in both Boroughs have been surveyed and logged, so that each street is well know to the local Conservation Officers. We now know with some degree of certainty, what we can do in each location. Depending on the street and the history of each house.

We can therefore advise our clients how much these hoses can be changed externally and if a knock-down-and-rebuild is feasible, or if the front facade needs to be preserved. This does not preclude the internal reconstruction of the building, but has a great bearing on what can be achieved, and whether the project is zero rated for VAT or standard rated.
